APUS Group aims to fix that with their newly launched browser called APUS Browser (formerly known as A5 Browser during its beta stage.) Once you get past the visual appeal, APUS Browser boasts a quick and efficient browsing experience thanks to its “featherweight” design. It also claims to be power efficient so users shouldn’t have to worry about it taking up too much RAM as it was designed to minimize the user’s mobile memory and data usage. The low RAM footprint helps to ensure a quicker browsing experience.

APUS Group, a Beijing-based Android application development company that focuses on creating products and services that enhance the mobile experience for users worldwide, has its core team debuted in Silicon Valley. Tao Li, the founder and CEO of APUS Group introduced the APUS User System to Silicon Valley's entrepreneurs and media. This is the first time APUS and its team came to the US communicating and interacting deeply with peers and partners in the Android industry. They discussed comprehensively on the development of APUS User System in US market and reached relevant agreements.

APUS Group, a mobile startup based jointly in the Silicon Valley and Beijing and founded by former Qihoo VP Tao Li, announced today that it has completed a US$100 million series B round. The round was led by Chengwei Capital, SIG, and Qiming Venture Partners. It also included contributions from the company’s series A investors, and brings the company’s total funding to US$116 million.

APUS Group, a seven-month-old Chinese company that develops Android utility apps for the global market, has confirmed that it has raised $100 million in new funding. The company’s Series B round, word of which got out in China earlier this month, will be used to develop new services and grow its reach in global markets like the U.S., Brazil, India and Russia.

Recently, App Annie, the well-known data provider of mobile application analysis, released its November 2014 application index. The report pointed out the emergence of lightweight applications, which have become especially popular in emerging markets. With 100 million users, the APUS Launcher has become one of the top 10 mobile applications worldwide, which ranked No.1 among all launcher products.

If you’ve got an Android device, you may have heard of the APUS Group. The company’s Android launcher app broke 30 million users late last month, and it recently rolled out a pretty major update too. But what you may not know is that while APUS is jointly based in the US and China, its founder Tao Li comes from the world of China tech, and previously served as a vice president at Chinese web security firm Qihoo 360. I recently had a chance to catch up with Mr. Li and ask him about how his experiences at Qihoo helped shape APUS and where he sees his new company headed next.
